KakaoTalk is the most popular social platform in South Korea, making it an important platform for your brand to be active on if you want to succeed in the country.
With users coming from all age groups and all walks of life, KakaoTalk can be a valuable marketing tool whether your company is B2C or B2B.
In this blog post, I will explore three ways KakaoTalk can support your CRM marketing in South Korea.
I also wrote a full-length guide to KakaoTalk for business, so if you want even more in-depth advice, check it out by clicking the banner below!
1. Use Alim Talk to send informational messages
Alim Talk is a business marketing tool that allows you to send informational messages, such as notifications about orders, payments and delivery. “Alim” means “notify” in Korean.
The screenshot below shows an Alim Talk message from a company providing the customer with delivery information.
There are three types of Alim Talk message:
- Text: Send a textual message containing all the information you want to provide to the recipient.
- Image: Embed an image in the message to increase engagement and emphasise your visual branding.
- Button: You can use buttons in your message in a variety of ways, from obtaining customer consent, to enabling one-click payments, so customers can easily click and take the desired action.
2. Use Friend Talk to send targeted and customised marketing messages
Friend Talk is a business marketing tool that allows you to send targeted and customised marketing messages.
With Friend Talk, you can send informational or advertisement messages to users.
The screenshot below shows a Friend Talk message from a company promoting its new products and encouraging the customer to check out its discounts and promotions.
Friend Talk messages are sent based on phone number, but only to users who have added the business’ KakaoTalk Channel as a friend and who have agreed to receive promotional messages.
3. Use Sangdam Talk to provide consultations to customers via chat
Sangdam Talk is a business marketing tool that allows your customer service agents to chat directly with customers to answer their questions and provide consultations. “Sangdam” means “consultation” in Korean.
By adding the KakaoTalk consultation button to your KakaoTalk Channel, users can easily click on this to request a consultation on KakaoTalk.
You can encourage consultations by sending notification messages to users that connect them to your customer service agents to chat. As well as connecting customers to human customer service agents, there are also functions that allow you to program a chatbot to answer automatically to frequently asked questions.
The screenshot below shows a Sangdam Talk message from a company’s consultation chatbot.
Sangdam Talk is particularly useful to B2C companies, especially those that have a high volume of customers asking similar frequently asked questions. Using a Sangdam Talk chatbot to answer these frequently asked questions can save you a lot of time and free up your human customer service agents to provide consultations to users with more complex requirements.
As well as being highly time-efficient, Sangdam Talk also improves the customer experience and saves costs, since businesses can just reach out to customers directly on KakaoTalk rather than having to use other platforms. For these reasons, Sangdam Talk is a really popular function for both KakaoTalk Channels and customers.
